a game we play

Things have names; even ‘things’
Is a name-

Playing games; we say that
We don’t ‘play games’ only

Because we’d not want to be
Caught or to feel as if we’ve
Lost

All things

Have or are given names;
A fact:

Everybody, every living being, each
Person like you or me plays games

That aren’t actually very much fun,
Which have ‘teams’ and ‘losing
Parties’

But no winners; nobody wins in
The end

It’s all extremely far from a party-
No favours, no presents, no cake or

Ice cream- just an empty feeling
Like the opposite of touch and

Quickly dissolving dreams

Such as the effects of the sun’s heat
Upon each and every glass of water

Half-empty and forgotten and neglected-
A beverage nobody would wish to drink-

There’s a name for that exact happening-

There are several names for the things we
Own yet no longer desire to keep

There’s a name for the things you say
In your sleep without having to speak-

This is a game we play day after day,
Week after weak
